Join us with Aberdeen University Collections for a collections close-up and a bookbinding workshop!
Ever wondered how was Early Modern poetry was circulated? What were Aberdonians reading in the 19th century? How did colonisation influence travel writing? And what is the University Collections' oldest book? If you'd like answers to these questions (and more!), join us on Wednesday 15th April at 2pm!

Part 1: Collections Close Up led by Jane Pirie (Rare Books) featuring collection items linked to literature (45 mins)
15 minute break
Part 2: Bookbinding Workshop led by Brannah Mackenzie (Paper Conservator) in which you create your own mini books (45 minutes)
FAQ
- Do I need to get a ticket to attend? Yes! We have a limited amount of space available, so make sure you get a ticket below!
- I am not interested in the Collections Close-up/Bookbinding Workshop, but I would like to attend the other activity. That's completely fine! Make sure you get a ticket for the activity you are interested in (if you would like to attend both, get yourself a ticket to both).
- I got a ticket for one/both activity(ies), but now I don't think I'll be able to attend. No worries! Email us at english.lit@ausa.org.uk and we will sort out the ticket(s).
- I am not a member, can I still attend? Sadly, for space reasons, this event is restricted to LitSoc members only. If you would like to buy a membership (£3 for students), you can do it through our AUSA page here .
- Are the rooms accessible? We will be in the Seminar Room and Conservation Studio, both on the Lower Ground Floor of the library; all floors are accessible by lift and the rooms have step-free access.
