Union Brew,
Don't worry, it's not a real emergency (so far). It's essentially a meeting which will allow members to join the committee in certain roles. If you're interested in getting involved, or just find out what it will be about, come along on the 23rd of October from 2-3pm at Union Brew Cafe. It may sound like extra work but I can promise you it is not very strenuous at all; it's also a good way to beef up your c.v. if you are applying for jobs or masters qualifications. Even if you don't want to join the committee, come and vote and have a say on who you think should help run the society! The roles we need to fill are:
Secretary- We need someone to write up minutes, communicate with society members, and help organise events. It's a very easy job, and you will only have to do it for half a year!
Dig Liaison- We need someone to help organise field work opportunities with local archaeologists and the department. This will mostly be done by email, and will also involve in helping to draw up risk assessments and information on fieldwork. It's a good way to guarantee yourself a spot on interesting digs too...
1st and 2nd Year Reps- These roles are to help the society reach 1st and 2nd years, as they can often tend to be a bit left out. We'd really appreciate input from first and second years, so if you're studying at that level and are interested in promoting better connectivity between students, staff, and the society, come along!
