Join us for a screening of Dahomey (2024), a compelling documentary by Mati Diop exploring the return of 26 royal treasures looted by French colonial forces in 1892 to the Republic of Benin.
Through the voices of young Beninese people, the film interrogates questions of cultural ownership, colonial legacy, and the politics of restitution. Dahomey is both poetic and political. A meditation on identity, history, and the power of reclaiming what was stolen.
